United Way Charlotte County in conjunction with the local COAD (Community Organizations Active in a Disaster) will be the liaison in connecting volunteers to partners needing assistance.

INDIVIDUALS Looking for volunteer opportunities? When disaster strikes, we often see an influx of volunteers looking for ways to help the people and communities affected before they're needed. If you are already associated with a nonprofit or faith organization, we encourage you to reach out to them first. If you are not already associated with an organization - you are a spontaneous volunteer, and you are in the right place! Read more below.

If Charlotte County falls within the impacted area, emails will be sent out prior to power loss of any Volunteer Site(s) locations identified. Please keep in mind, exact sites are not guaranteed.
Once it is safe to enter the community we will reach out again to notify you of available roles.
Examples of opportunities:
- COAD may need volunteers to man phones
- Salvation Army may need volunteers to help in their mass-feeding mobile kitchens
- Assist Points of Distribution sites with water and supply management
- The American Red Cross may need volunteers to case-manage victims of a hurricane and direct them to temporary assistance
- An elderly person may need volunteers to help clear debris from their yard or flood-soaked carpet removed from their home
- Home-bound victims may need water or food delivered by volunteers and many, many more opportunities.
